What is Plethora?

Plethora is an app that connects users with local professionals who can provide services at your location. Plethora makes it easy to find almost anything - from mobile hair salons to car cleaning to electricians - even your local ice cream truck.

How do I use this app?

Once you create your account, you’ll see all of the available businesses in your area. Select the business you want, and then ping them to request their services. You can choose either a Ping ASAP, which will have the vendor come as soon as they can, or you can request a Ping Appointment, to have them come at a later date or time. The vendor will respond to your ping request, and then arrive at your location at the agreed upon time to perform the requested service.

How much does it cost?

Plethora is completely free for users.

Do you sell my information?

No, we understand how important privacy is, and we will never sell your information to anybody.

Where is Plethora available?

Plethora is available on Long Island (Nassau & Suffolk counties). But don’t worry, we’re planning to expand to other locations soon! Follow us on social media to hear about all our updates.

What happens if I pinged a business, but they never show up?

We’re sorry that you didn’t have a great experience. First thing you should do is make sure that the vendor accepted your ping request - you can do this from the Pings or Notification screens. If the ping was accepted, and they still did not show up, you can message the vendor to find out what happened. You may also block or report the vendor from the Vendor’s Profile screen, if you prefer.

Is it safe to use this app?

It’s just as safe as calling a local business and having them come to your house. Plethora takes privacy very seriously so we will never sell your information, and only share your basic details (such as your name, address, and phone number) with vendors when you ping them. Vendors that you did not ping will not be able to see any information about you.

How do I leave a review about a vendor?

You can review vendors by tapping on the Ping menu item, and then selecting the Past Pings. From there, you’ll see the option to review the vendors that you’ve previously used. You may also review vendors directly from their Vendor Profile screen, and then click on their rating.

Do I need to create an account to use the app?

No, you do not need to create a Plethora account to view the available businesses. However, you will need an account in order to ping vendors and start booking services.

How do I update my profile?

You may view your profile by clicking the profile picture in the top right corner in the app. From there, you’ll be able to update your pertinent information.

I’ve found a vendor that I want to use, but the ping button is grayed out - what is happening?

In order to ping a vendor, you must be logged into your Plethora account. If you are logged in, and are still unable to ping, it may be because of the vendor’s setup - some vendors do not allow pings due to their business structure. If you believe something is wrong, please submit a Support Inquiry either through the app, or the website, and we’ll get this resolved for you.

What is my passcode, and what is this used for?

The passcode is an additional measure used to avoid accidental Pings to vendors. We prompt for the passcode whenever you ask to ping the vendor so that we know that this ping was intentional.

You can create or update your passcode from the My Profile section.

Can I contact a vendor before I ping them?

Yes, of course. You can contact the business by messaging the vendor through the app. You can do this either using the Messages menu, or from the Vendor Profile and then selecting the message icon.

What if I need to edit or cancel my ping or appointment?

That’s not a problem. You can do this by tapping on the Pings menu. In the Upcoming Pings section, you’ll be able to modify or cancel the ping.

I pinged a vendor, but they have not approved the ping yet - what do I do?

It can take several hours for vendors to respond to the pings, so please be patient. If you feel like too much time has passed, you may contact the vendor directly via Plethora’s messages to ask them for an update. Remember that until the vendor accepts the ping, your appointment is not officially booked.

How do I enter to win the sweepstakes?

To enter the sweepstakes, you’ll need to have a Plethora account, and to agree to the Sweepstakes Terms and Conditions. There are two different ways to earn raffle entries:

      • Every five logins into the app earns you an entry. There’s no limit to these, so keep logging in daily to get the most entries!
      • You earn entries for sharing your vendor experiences to social media. Sharing to multiple social media accounts earns multiple entries! The more you share, the more entries you earn.
I did not receive the correct number of Sweepstakes Entries - what do I do?

What’s included with my Plethora membership?

Every vendor account will give you access to the full suite of Plethora features! You can receive Ping ASAPs, Ping Appointments, use Broadcast Location Mode, send out Promotional Messages to Users, have users Share their experiences to Social Media, send out messages the users, get reviews, be entered into our sweepstakes (as long as you accept the terms & conditions), and so much more!

Does Plethora take any percent of my sales, in addition to the monthly cost?

No, Plethora does not take any additional cut of your sales, so your profits are fully yours.

How do I use this app?

You can begin receiving Pings as soon as your Vendor account has been finalized. Remember to Accept the pings, so that the users know that you’ve received their requests and will perform the requested services. If you need, you may also Message the users to get additional information.

What Ping modes are available to me?

You will have three different modes available, though you can enable or disable these from your Profile screen, if needed:

  • Ping ASAP - When a User wants your services immediately, they will use this option.
  • Ping Appointment - When Users want to select the date and time of their service, they will book an appointment with this selection. If you have Ping Appointment enabled, it is recommended that you also link up your personal calendar app with Plethora so that there is less likelihood of double-booking appointments.
  • Broadcast Location Mode - This allows users to see your exact GPS location on the Map View. If Broadcast Mode is disabled, users will only see the Business Address from your Profile.
How do I set up my account to match my needs?

First and foremost, it’s important that your basic information is set up correctly. We highly recommend adding a profile picture and description blurb as well, which can help draw in users.

You will also be able to add a Services Offered or Menu - this can be an image or PDF that can be uploaded. Again, we recommend something that contains all the information that a user may want. While adding prices is not required, it can certainly help users with their decisions to book you or not.

Next, you will need to decide whether you want to offer Ping ASAP, Ping Appointment, or Broadcast Mode (or any combination of the three). If you need to enable Ping Appointments, then we recommend also linking with your personal calendar app, and setting up the additional appointment fields that are shown.

You can then set up your “Three Questions”, which are some questions that the user will answer when they submit their ping request. For example, you may want to ask what kind of service the user actually needs performed, or just an open-ended question asking for any additional details they’d like to share.

How do I edit my business information?

You may view your vendor profile by clicking on the profile picture in the top right corner of the app. From there, you’ll be able to update your pertinent information. You can also select the eye icons next to each field to hide certain values from users.

Can I be both a Plethora User, and Vendor?

As long as you create your Plethora User and Vendor accounts with the same email or phone number, you’ll be able to tap on Settings, and then switch between User & Vendor Mode. Remember that only User accounts may Ping vendors.

Can I message users directly?

You can contact users by messaging them through the app. You can do this either using the Messages menu, or from the User’s Profile and then selecting the message icon.

Do you require background checks for vendors?

While certainly not required, we strongly suggest getting the background check, so that users are more confident in using your services. Background checks are performed by a private company and are secure.

What happens if I’ve accepted a Ping request, but the user isn’t home?

We’re sorry that you didn’t have a great experience. First thing you should do is make sure that the ping was accepted, and not canceled - you can do this from the Pings or Notification screens. If the ping was accepted, and they still were not available, you can message the user to find out what happened. You may also block or report the user from the User Profile screen, if you prefer.

I don’t see a correct category for my business - can I still join?

Yes, of course you can! We’d love to have you. Please Contact Us, and we will happily add your category to the list!

Can I choose more than one category for my business?

Yes, definitely. We understand that you probably offer many different services, and we believe users should be able to find you, no matter which search terms they actually use!

How do I cancel my account?

We’re sorry to see you go. You can cancel or pause your membership through the app, via the Settings menu.
